Korean Caricature Artists’ Sketchbook | Insadong Ssamziegil
Insadong · Beautiful Caricature Seoul
What makes one hand-drawn portrait feel different from another? Our artists explore expressions, line and colour in their regular practice. This selection comes from the September 2026 study gallery introduced with our Insadong Ssamziegil studio.
An expression begins with observation
The portrait studies show different ways to approach a face: emphasised features, a steady gaze or a recognisable hairstyle. Looking closely at those choices is one way to think about how you would like to appear in a drawing.
Colour changes the atmosphere
Flowers, layered colour and softer shading bring another mood to a portrait. The gallery shows some of the visual ideas our artists explored in their practice work.
From portrait studies to playful illustration
Other examples use illustrated characters, bold colours or a softer treatment of a couple. Browse the range and notice whether you are drawn to expressive lines, gentle colour or a more playful feeling.
Talk with the studio about your own portrait
These works are practice examples. For a visit, ask which artist and drawing options are available at your chosen studio, and confirm the current price and time needed.
At Insadong, Beautiful Caricature is on Ssamziegil’s second floor by the entrance. Bring an idea or a reference image to help explain the expression and atmosphere you would like.
